Memories, memories.....

So here I am.... Back in Vienna, working like 'everyone' else again... and I would have loved to be back in Aspen skiing again!! I have a little bit of a jet-lag still, I slept like 1 hour on the plane in monkey class (economy class)... GRRRRRR!!!!

So my friends and family keep asking me about the US - how was it? what did you do? etc. I prefer to talk to you all personally about my vacation, but some highlights were:

1) Le Caribou Club: This is the most exclusive club in Aspen, and you need to be a member to come in (or accompany a member). A one week membership costs 1500 USD - yeah right, that is money that I DO NOT have... But funnily enough, Florence and I were having dinner at Nobu on our last night in Aspen - and two local folks were eating next to us. We started talking, and to make a long story short, they got us into the Caribou club. And well, what to say? It was 'plastic fantastic'!!! Hehe, you know what I mean..... Was a bit disappointed that we did not meet any movie stars, but given that it was President's weekend, this was not the 'star high season'.

2) The Stetson Hats: My friend bought a hat there - wow, so cool!!! The real cowboy hats!!!!I tried one on too, but given that my head is size XXL, it looks really corny on me. She looked great though, and got TONS of compliments when wearing it out on the town. A true cowgirl!

3) My Völkl skies. I am so glad that I brought my Kharma skies to Aspen... They are freestyle skies (so quite wide/fat), and the US conditions were perfect for my skies. I really felt that I was 'dancing' on the snow, being close to the snow... what a feeling! They are good on the Austrian/Swiss slopes as well, but it is just not the same thing...

Back to real life....! Ciao!

Back from Aspen!

So, here I am back again in Europe! Totally jet-lagged (slept one hour on the plane - now I know why some people call economy class 'MONKEY' class - we were stowed away like a bunch of animals....).

I have a lot of pics and thoughts that I would like to put on the Blog - but right now, I am going to leav you with a teaser :-)

Quick update from Aspen...

Hello hello!

Just wanted to make a very short update from Aspen, where Florence and I are having a great time. The weather forecast was announcing snow and stormy weather for Wed - and guess what, we had a great skiing day with fresh snow that came during the night and sunny!!! Then for Thursday (today), they announced snow and stormy weather, and once again, we had a fantastic ski-day with no new snow, but blue skies... But very cold - minus 15 degrees Celsius!

Yesterday, we skied on Aspen Mountains (one out of 4 resorts in the Aspen area), followed by apres-ski at the Sky Bar - a really trendy bar in a super-nice hotel. Then we had a delicious steak at home, before we went out for a drink at Eric's Bar. We were back home by midnight, in order to be ready and set for a new ski day...

Today, we skied at Aspen Highlands - a 5 minute bus ride from Aspen center where we are living. The skiing was amazing... I took some pics, but did not bring my cable to transfer them to the PC; so you will have to wait until I am back in Vienna to see some awesome pictures.... We had lunch at a really nice place called Cloud 9 (in the slopes)... and guess what we had: yes, we had Swiss Fondue!! It was actually really good!

Right now, Florence is taking a power nap and I am updating my blog... Tonight, we are having dinner at home, then we are going out to meet up with some friends....

Tomorrow, they have announced snow and storms again... but I have stopped believing the weather forecast for now!

More to come...

The White House -- did you know that...?

I just learned something new as I was visiting Washington DC... I always thought that the Oval Office was the oval part of of the House which you see on this picture. But NO! The Oval Office is actually based far on the left of what you see here...! What you see here, is only the 'official? representation area - with tons of salons etc...

So, that was the fact of the day.

Just came back from a shopping trip in Georgetown. Bought great stuff at Nine West and Ann Taylor. They even had H&M here, but I did not come all that way from Austria to buy stuff at H&M :-)

Georgetown calling....

Well arrived in Washington DC - the airline company lost my skies (but found them again!!), so all well now.

My friend Florence lives in a beautiful apartment very close to Georgetown - a beautiful area in Washington which makes me think of London/old Europe.... Yesterday we went shopping in the area, stores are open on Sundays (not like in Vienna and Geneva or even Oslo, where everything is dead on Sundays....). I have a feeling this will be a very expensive trip in total ;-)

Today, I am planning to head down to Georgetown center, and have a look whilst my friend is at work. We are flying off to Aspen tomorrow morning, and the weather report says SNOW!!

Need to run, get dressed, have some breakfast. Reporting next: from Aspen :-)))

Flying Business class... yes!!

So, in less than 10 hours, I will be sitting on a plane to Washington to see my friend Florence... Good news: I have managed to upgrade my ticket to business class, so I will be flying in the Austrian Airlines new Business Class seats like the one above... Nice...!! Will watch tons of movies, read tons of magazines... and have tons of glasses of champagne! Will enjoy the 9hours in business class for sure!

Now I need to pack my bags, and get ready for my trip!

Favorite Ads from US Superbowl

Being a marketer, I have to love the US Superbowl - not for the game itself (do not even know the rules!), but for the great advertising that runs during the game. Did you know that one TV spot during the Superbowl costs somewhere between 2 and 3 million dollars? That is crazy!

Here are two of my favorites:

Bud light - no1

Bud light - no2

Enjoy!

Skilled in languages...?

Another day coming to an end...! Amazing how time flies when you are having a good time! Got a lot of things done in the office today - which gives me this 'good feeling' of really having mad a bit of a difference :-)

Now, one of my colleagues sent me this video today - which made me laugh out loud! If you also are slightly international, and know a couple of languages... then you might find this even more funny (do not forget to put up the volume).

Discovering Kärnten ski area...

Here is a pic from the top of the mountains in Nassfeld, a really nice ski resort in Kärnten, the south of Austria. There was an automatic web cam there, and my boyfriend and I made a pose :-) We had beautiful weather, but the slopes were hard and icy.... Got a bit of tan, but already started peeling today.... Grrrr!!!

We spent the night in Hermagor, a small village next to the slopes. Since the ski vacation of Austrian schools started this weekend, most of the hotels were fully booked, so we checked into a small, family owned 'pension'... It was very simple standard, but fair enough.... Until I realized today that I have been bit by a spider on my thigh... in the hotel bed!!! UGH! I hate insects, and just the thought of having a spider in my bed gives me the creeps!

Anyway, safe and sound back to civilisation...
